The map also has around 100 ship chunks lying around the bits of Mother Base that got vacuumed up into the wormhole with you. If you need extra components and steel, no worries. With a handful of simple meals, medicine, three assault rifles, 50 components, and 300 steel, you’re left to fend for yourselves in this strange new world. You have a variety of extra combat technologies available from the start including IEDs, Gunsmithing, Precision rifling, Mortars, Brewing, and… Carpet making. You start with three people aged between 28 and 45, all with at least the iron-willed, jogger, and careful shooter traits. This scenario is pretty similar to the default Crashlanded one with emphasis on combat preparedness, what with being mercenaries and all. This time, instead of being spat out into the hellscape of Metal Gear Survive, you find yourself on a distant… rim world. As the story goes, you were one of Big Boss’s boys and after an assault and falling unconscious, you, two of your brothers-in-arms, and bits of Mother Base were sucked into this strange rift that opened up in the sky above. Metal Gear Solid fans will be happy to hear that there’s a custom RimWorld scenario for them. (And yes, they’re all compatible with version 1.1.) Mother Base New Frontier

Behold, my shortlist of RimWorld scenario mods I both really enjoy and urge you to take a spin for yourself. So, as is tradition, I’ve turned to modders to find my fix.
While having three vanilla starting scenarios is all well and good, by your 100th hour, things start to get a little stale. Sure, RimWorld‘s endgame is escaping the planet, but I’m fine just growing my colony, fending off waves of raiders, and optimizing my settlement’s layout and supply lines.

But as I’m waiting for my favorite mods to update to sync with the new patch, I’ve been keeping myself busy perusing custom RimWorld scenarios on the Steam Workshop.īetween you and me, I envy those who can make their own stories out of pure sandbox games. While the vanilla game is fun in its own right, the sheer amount of mods out there let you fine-tune your experience - like me and my survivalist tendencies.
Now, to see it still blossoming with a vibrant modding community and its 1.1 update and Royalty DLC all at once, I couldn’t be happier. I remember buying the alpha before the game debuted on Steam. RimWorld was one of those games I fell in love with right away.
